At LASER, we’re not just about energy buying, we’re about making a difference. This year, we partnered with npower Business Solutions (nBS), a supplier of our electricity framework, to provide direct support to local food bank charities.
To help our customers achieve their social value responsibilities, we assigned a 10% social value weighting in the award criteria of our 2024-2028 electricity framework agreement. As part of their social value contributions, nBS donated £100,000, which will see support for food bank charities up and down the country.
Customers buying electricity with nBS through the LASER framework have nominated food bank charities which they would like to receive a donation. A total of 51 food bank charities across the UK received a third of the total donation. The remaining £67,000 went to the Trussell Trust, the UK’s largest community of food banks, which is made up of over 400 food banks operating from more than 1,400 centres across the UK.
The money will help provide emergency food and practical support to people in need, providing emergency food parcels to individuals and families who can’t afford to eat, keep warm and pay the bills.
