In the financial year 2025/2026 we ran a social value initiative with our flexible framework supplier, npower Business Solutions (nBS) for our local authority customers to nominate a charity of their choice. If selected, the nominated charity received a donation from a £100,000 fund, generously contributed by npower.

One of those chosen charities was the Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity.

Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity supports specialist palliative and end of life care for people across West Northamptonshire, funding services that enhance comfort, dignity and wellbeing for patients and their families.

The charity’s work goes beyond their inpatient unit at the hospice. They support across the whole of West Northamptonshire – in people’s homes, providing wellbeing services and help to fund additional supportive services that improve end-of-life care in their community, including their Hummingbird Bereavement service. And it doesn’t end there, they also run a countywide lymphoedema clinic which specialises in diagnosing, managing and treating lymphedema.

The donation received enabled the hospice to fund 22 hours of specialist inpatient care for one patient. In 24/25, the inpatient unit cared for 242 patients with the support of donations the hospice receives.

We celebrate 50 years of the hospice in 2026, and your kind gesture is greatly appreciated. Support like this will allow us to ensure that we can continue to support our patients and their families for another 50 years and beyond.

How you could get involved

Two huge events are happening for the charity this year, where all the money raised goes back into funding the much-needed support and care.

Cynthia Spencer’s 50th Anniversary Black Tie Gala

The hospice celebrates its 50th birthday this year and to mark this fantastic milestone they are hosting a Black Tie Gala, bringing together supporters, local business and the wider community for dinner, entertainment and of course, the all-important fundraising needed to help keep the important work going.

Riders can choose from 10-mile or 25-mile routes PLUS the special BIG 50‑mile route in honour of 50 years of compassionate care at Cynthia Spencer. It promises to be another fantastic, family-friendly day out with a brilliant atmosphere, and every mile supporting local hospice care.
