We are thrilled to announce that LASER, in collaboration with our partners at 7Forces, has been nominated and shortlisted for not just one, but two prestigious awards at the upcoming GO Awards on 1st June 2023 – the Net Zero 22/23 Awards and the Collaborative Procurement 22/23 Award.
What are the GO Awards?
Since its inception in 2002, the GO Awards have celebrated organisations at the forefront of public procurement excellence across the United Kingdom. These awards aim to acknowledge and honour the accomplishments of all those involved in delivering exceptional public sector services. This year, the highly anticipated event will take place at the Voco St John’s Solihull, and we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it.
The Collaborative Procurement Award
With the responsibility of achieving a 78% reduction in carbon emissions by the 2050 target, Police & Crime Commissioners sought ways to bring together various stakeholders to tackle this challenge. In response, the 7 Force Commercial Services established a regional ‘Sustainability and Decarbonisation’ taskforce. This taskforce, comprised of experts from Police and Fire Services, other public and private sector organisations such as LASER Energy, aimed to identify barriers, align requirements, share best practices, and explore market innovations on the journey to net zero.
LASER submitted a customised proposal to the taskforce, aimed at facilitating their objectives. The proposal was reviewed and enabled the creation of standardised individual reports at a reduced cost per report. Thanks to the regional contract, Essex and Kent Fire Services benefited from LASER’s collaboration with the 7Forces Commercial team, resulting in significant cost savings. This collaborative approach played a pivotal role in the taskforce’s success by presenting a unified ‘sustainability’ voice and developing a single roadmap to achieve net zero. By pooling limited resources, the taskforce effectively addressed common challenges in a fast and effective way.
The Best Net Zero Initiative: Net Zero 22/23 Award
Building on the accomplishments of the ‘Sustainability and Decarbonisation’ taskforce, LASER submitted a bespoke proposal via the Ealing Framework for Consultancy Services. Following the contract award, we actively contributed to the Options Appraisal and finalised the Carbon Roadmap output reports. These reports, which outlined both ‘Low Action’ and ‘High Action’ scenarios for each Force, covered financial impact, investment requirements, and CO2 reduction modelling.
The outstanding success achieved through this collaboration has paved the way for the taskforce approach to be extended to other sectors across the region. This holistic and cooperative strategy allows for the exploration of the ‘Art of the Possible,’ presenting tremendous opportunities for future endeavours.
LASER is immensely proud of the collaborative work we have undertaken alongside the 7Forces. Our nomination and shortlisting for the GO Awards in both the Collaborative Procurement and Net Zero Initiative categories validate our commitment to driving impactful change in the public sector. We eagerly look forward to attending the awards night and celebrating the achievements of our fellow short listers. Together, we can forge a sustainable future and create a lasting legacy for generations to come.
As the GO Awards draw near, we are excited and optimistic. We are proud of what we have achieved thus far, and we will continue to push the boundaries of innovation and collaboration to make a lasting positive impact on the public sector.
We extend our gratitude to the GO Awards for providing a platform to celebrate excellence in public procurement, and we congratulate all the nominees across various categories. Together, we can inspire and empower others to embrace net zero solutions, collaborative approaches, and sustainable practices. The countdown to the GO Awards has begun, and we eagerly await the announcement of the winners.
